This year's farewell to the Singing Fountain in Mariánské Lázně will take place earlier than usual. The closing ceremony will take place on Saturday 31 August at 20:30, when the entire programme will be performed. From September, this popular tourist attraction will undergo extensive modernisation, which should be completed by the beginning of the next spa season. The total cost of the reconstruction will amount to approximately CZK 38 million.
Since its opening in 1986, the fountain has not undergone any major repairs, so a major renovation is now necessary and will include several key modifications and upgrades. Plans include the installation of new pipework, tanks and pumps, and the complete replacement of the electrical wiring, spotlights and speakers. In addition, the waterproofing, surfaces, footings and reinforcement treatment of the reinforced concrete structures, which will also be covered, will need to be repaired. The works will also include the construction of a new entrance to the engine room, cleaning of surfaces and refurbishment of decorative elements.
The official end of the Singing Fountain production will take place on Saturday, August 31 at 8:00 p.m., but visitors will still have the opportunity to hear the fountain throughout Sunday, September 1. After that, the long-awaited upgrades will begin, followed by the renovation of the Main Colonnade floor in the fall. The shortening of this year's season is necessary because some of the work cannot be done during the winter months.
The fountain, which is one of the main attractions of the city, will be modernised so that it can continue to bring joy to all visitors. It will not only be more beautiful, but also more efficient and sustainable.
Are you looking forward to the new look of the fountain?
