28.8.2024 | Events

The Chopin House in cooperation with the Fryderyk Chopin Society is organising an extraordinary piano concert on Saturday 31 August 2024 at 7:30 pm at the Chopin House. As part of the event entitled "Reverberations of the 65th Chopin Festival. Chopin Festival" will feature one of the leading Czech pianists, Lukáš Klánský.

Lukáš Klánský is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, known for his masterful interpretations and deep musical passion. As a member of the renowned Lobkowicz Trio, he won first prize and the audience prize at the prestigious Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach in 2014. Since then, the ensemble has performed at the most important music festivals in the Czech Republic, such as Prague Spring, Dvořák's Prague and Janáček's May, as well as on stages abroad.

He has also achieved significant success in his solo career. In 2018, he won the second prize at the Hans von Büllow wettbewerb in conducting from the piano, a discipline he has recently been intensively pursuing. With the Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice, he records W. A. Mozart's piano concertos in the double role of soloist and conductor.

Lukáš Klánský started playing the piano at the age of five under the guidance of Ružena Učňová at the Music School of the Capital City of Prague. He continued his studies at the Prague Conservatory under the guidance of Prof. Eva Boguniová and at the HAMU in Prague in the class of his father, Prof. Ivan Klánský. Here he also received a doctorate for his thesis on the piano works of J. V. H. Voříšek, of which he is an enthusiastic promoter.

He teaches at the Gymnasium and Music School of the City of Prague and since 2018 also at the HAMU in Prague. His teaching activities include lectures at the Piano Saturdays in Brno, at the Gradus ad Parnassum festival in Ostrava and, as part of the Erasmus programme, at a masterclass at the Music Academy in La Coruña.

The concert "Reverberations of the 65. Chopin Festival" will not only be a celebration of Chopin's music, but also an opportunity to experience a masterful performance of works by one of the most renowned Czech pianists of today.
