What do Dominik Hašek, Jaroslav Svěcený, Zdeněk Pohlreich and Jadran Šetlík have in common? Jadran Šetlík, an art photographer, has created portraits of Czech personalities across disciplines. He wants to inspire the young generation. The exhibition series In the Footsteps of Role Models will be on display in the gallery of Dom Chopin in Mariánské Lázně from 7 March.
The author met many young talents in his surroundings, inspired by his role models, who excelled in their field of interest. He met a young talented goalkeeper whose role model is the famous goalkeeper Dominik Hašek. Jadran's friend, the eminent violinist Jaroslav Svěcený, told him of his student's zeal for playing the violin, and another friend of the author, the renowned cardiac surgeon Professor Neužil, of a little honey who is following in his footsteps. It was during these meetings that the idea of the project In the Footsteps of Role Models was born.
The project will present, through artistic portraits and individual stories, specific young people who have meaningful interests and are successful in them, as well as their role models in art, sport, crafts, science and business.
The intention of the exhibition series is to reach out to a young generation attached to mobile phones and social media. In the stories of young talents and their role models, the author wants to offer young people a new perspective on leisure time and inspiration for spending it.
Each year of the project will culminate in an intergenerational national exhibition in Prague. It will take place with the personal participation of the portrayed young talents and the personalities they look up to.
The Chopin House is the first place in the country where the intergenerational exhibition series will be presented. It will be launched with an opening in the impressive surroundings of a local gallery on 7 March at 4pm. The exhibition will run until April 6.
