Teplá Monastery
The Premonstratensian Monastery of Teplá was founded in 1193 by the Squire Hroznata, a Czech nobleman. It is arguably the most important monastery in West Bohemia.
The oldest preserved architectural feature of the monastery is the Romanesque-Gothic triple-nave Annunciation Church. At the end of the 17th century Kryštof Dientzenhofer built a Baroque prelacy and convent in the southern wing on the site of some former Gothic buildings that had been damaged by fire. Service buildings were established in the period between the 15th and 19th century. The library and the museum, both in the north wing, were built in the neo-Baroque style between 1902–1910.
