Goethe's Trail
Enjoy the natural landscape as seen by the poet and scholar, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, on his walks with Ulrika von Lewetzov between in 1821 and 1823.
A recommended starting point is the Municipal Museum on Goethe Square where the poet stayed and spent his time not only enjoying the spa cures but also studying the local minerals. The local museum houses an exhibition focusing on Goethe's time in town. The 1.1km-long trail leads though the Geological Park, the largest in the Czech Republic. In the park you will be impressed with the diversity of colours and the structure of rocks on which we commonly tread. The trail also passes through a symbolic cemetery of WWI victims. A branch trail leds to Laska's Chapel, a few steps from which you can see a sculpture of Goethe and the Muse. This is an easy trail to walk - end with a refreshing drink of mineral water at the Forest Spring.
